What is Optical Bonding ?
Optical bonding is the process of laminating touchscreens, glass or plastic cover lenses, EMI filters, and other display enhancements to an LCD. A layer of adhesive is integrated between the cover layer and display to fill the air gap left behind in a typical perimeter or gasket bond. Once the adhesive is cured, the final product has better optical and ruggedization properties.
Optical Bonding/Lamination Advantages
Reduced Reflections – Surface reflections can be a minor nuisance to a safety hazard depending on the application. When operating any vehicle, watercraft, or aircraft instrument panels and navigation displays must be glare free and easy to read. Environments with high ambient lighting can cause internal and external reflections that impair the visual quality of the screen. External light reflections decrease with anti-glare and anti-reflective top surface enhancements without additional power consumption. Air gaps cause internal reflections between the display and touch panel. Optical bonding fills the gap and eliminates the inner light reflection.
Dust-Proof, Moisture-Proof, and Anti-Condensation – Air gaps are also susceptible to contaminants such as dirt, dust, moisture, and condensation. Chances of environmental contamination increase in rugged-use instrumentation such as agricultural equipment or military devices. Presence of contaminants increases the risk of failure in the adhesive tape or other material used in the perimeter bond. Optical bonding eliminates the potential of contamination and condensation, protecting and extending product life.
Rugged – Full lamination technology uses optical glue (OCA/OCR) to bond the touch glass and LCD display to replace the traditional frame glue bonding method. Optical adhesive improves the structural strength of the touch panel and increases its overall durability.
Excellent Picture Quality – The refractive index of the optical glue is close to that of the glass cover, which reduces the reflection between the display panel and the glass. In turn, the higher light transmittance significantly improves picture contrast and clarity. As a result, the display is clear and easy to read even under bright light conditions. Full lamination provides higher light transmittance, which can improve the brightness and uniformity of the display and improve the overall picture quality.

OPT.1: Touch LCD Monitor Only
Equipped with LCD Monitor controller (AD) board with HDMI IN and Touch USB as PCAP touch LCD Monitor usage. Should you need to use the screen as a monitor you can connect it to an external source, like a PC or media player, using the HDMI input.
OPT.2: Built-in Android Player
There is an integrated Android media player inside the screen allowing you to upgrade to a network version without needing any additional hardware. You can also install third party Android apps if required.
