Differences among Digital Signage Display, LCD Monitor and TV
In signage industry, digital signage displays, LCD Monitors and TV all have been used and deployed for commercial advertising purpose, users might think they are same things, actually they are not, and below we will present their differences:
Different Running Environments:
Common LCD Monitor and TVs are always used in small space with clean environment for example home, meeting room, which means air quality and humidity are relative better. However, digital signage displays are often used in out of door environment, such as public places, the environment is more complicated.
Running Time Required:
Basically, LCD monitors and TVs are designed for 8-12hours per day, but digital signage displays are designed for 7*24hours at least and even 7*24hours performance because of the commercial environment required. Besides, the TVs and LCD Monitors life is basically 20K-30Khours, but the digital signage displays are with 50k hours.
Brightness Differences:
As the digital signage displays are used in commercial environment, which requires better brightness as there is always lighting in commercial places. Basically, TVs and LCD Monitors are all with 250-300nits, but digital signage displays are with 350nits at least, 450nits/500nits are also standard, for some semi-outdoor digital signage, needs 700nits-1500nits LCD displays, for outdoor signage, needs more than 2500nits LCD panels, which is only possible for digital signage displays.
Flexibility:
Normally LCD Monitors and TVs are all wall mounting type, but digital signage displays can be in any shape and sizes according to the actual requirements, for example, wall mounting, free standing type and so on. Besides, also can integrate with different touch technologies, Camera technologies and other sensors embedded. With metal housing, it can be more reliable and durable in public places.
Additionally, different environments have to deploy big size video wall, which means only commercial digital signage LCD Video Wall screen works, with higher brightness and nearly seamless bezel, it can deliver an immersive images to audience. TVs and LCD Monitors cannot handle that.
So when users are planning to deploy digital signage, can choose which one to use depends on the actual requirement. If the project is limited to cost and also no need to display too long time, users can use TVs plus digital signage player box and software. Otherwise, it is recommended to use professional digital signage displays.
